VS 2008 IDE: is it possible to host VSIX package built against NET framework 4.0

Now our VS IDE extension targets .NET framework 3.5. Users can use our extension in VS 2008 IDE and above.

We're going to upgrade our source code so it targets .NET framework 4.0.

After upgrade, can VS 2008 IDE host our extension or not? Thanks.
