Visual Studio extension/ Solution Explorer bar: How to add items to the filter list

Hi All,

after reading the following article http://msdn.microsoft.com/de-de/library/hh966591(v=vs.110).aspx I've implemented a solution explorer filter.

Now I would like to add my filter name to the list of filters in the Solution Explorer bar, so that it would be appended beneath the "Pending changes" filter name.
AFAIK it should be possible to add controls to the Solution Explorer window since the latest VisualSVN version adds a button there.

I would appreciate any ideas for implementation.
